The Prophet ﷺ was a businessman before he was a statesman. Khadijah RA was one of Makkah’s most successful traders. Our deen didn’t separate “business” from “deen.” It gave us rules to make both flourish.

*1. Begin With Tawakkul, Not Just Tactics
Tawakkul is not “do nothing and hope.” It’s “do your best, then rely on Allah alone for the result.”
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“If you were to rely upon Allah with the reliance He is due, you would be given provision like the birds. They go out hungry in the morning and return full in the evening.”_ — Tirmidhi 2344, Sahih
*How to apply it:
Before you open your shop, launch ads, or send proposals, pray 2 rakahs of Salat al-Hajah and say: _“Hasbunallahu wa ni’mal wakeel.”_ Make your plan, but hand the outcome to Allah.
When tawakkul is sincere, Allah opens doors “from where you do not expect.” — Qur’an 65:2-3
Businesses with tawakkul don’t panic in a slow month. They adjust, make dua, and keep serving.
*2. Make Your Income 100% Halal
Barakah cannot live in haram. One haram dirham wipes the barakah from a hundred halal ones.
Allah says:
“O you who have believed, eat from the good things which We have provided for you”_ — Qur’an 2:172
The Prophet ﷺ said: _“A body that was nourished with haram will not enter Paradise.”_ — Tabarani
*How to apply it:
Audit your revenue streams. Remove interest-based loans, deceptive marketing, hidden fees, and selling what Allah prohibited. Even if halal feels slower at first, it compounds. Customers trust you, suppliers respect you, and Allah puts barakah in what remains.
*3. Be Truthful and Transparent in Trade
This was the core of the Prophet’s ﷺ business reputation. He was called _As-Sadiq Al-Amin_ — The Truthful, The Trustworthy — before revelation.
He ﷺ said:
“The truthful, trustworthy merchant will be with the prophets, the truthful, and the martyrs.”_ — Tirmidhi 1209, Hasan
And: _“Both parties in a transaction have the option so long as they have not separated. If they are truthful and make things clear, their transaction will be blessed. But if they lie and conceal, the blessing of their transaction will be erased.”_ — Bukhari 2079, Muslim 1532
*How to apply it:
Show real product photos. Disclose flaws. Don’t fake scarcity. Under-promise, over-deliver. A customer who trusts you once will bring 10 more. That’s barakah.
*4. Pay Workers and Vendors On Time
Delaying wages kills barakah for both sides.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Give the worker his wages before his sweat dries.”_ — Ibn Majah 2443, Sahih
And Allah says in a Hadith Qudsi: _“I will be against three people on the Day of Resurrection... one who hires a worker and takes full work from him but does not pay him his wages.”_ — Bukhari 2227
*How to apply it:
Automate payroll. If cash is tight, communicate early and don’t make false promises. Paying on time, even in small amounts, brings angels’ dua and ease in your own rizq.
*5. Give Sadaqah From Your Business, Not Just Profits
We think: “I’ll give charity when I’m rich.” Sunnah says: give to _become_ rich with barakah.
The Prophet ﷺ said: _“Wealth does not decrease by giving charity.”_ — Muslim 2588
And: _“Treat your sick with charity.”_ — Bayhaqi

Set a fixed % — 2.5%, 5%, or even $10 per sale — for sadaqah. Sponsor an orphan, feed a family, support a masjid. Do it quietly and consistently. Many business owners report that the month they increased sadaqah was the month sales unlocked. That’s not coincidence. That’s Allah’s promise.
*6. Perfect Your Salah, Especially Fajr and Ishraq
Your business runs on 8 hours, but your barakah runs on 5 prayers.
Allah says in a Hadith Qudsi: _“O son of Adam, pray to Me four rak‘ahs at the beginning of the day, and I will suffice you for the rest of it.”_ — Tirmidhi 475, Hasan
The Prophet ﷺ also said:
“The two rak‘ahs of Fajr are better than the world and everything in it.”_ — Muslim 725

The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever would like his provision to be increased and his lifespan to be extended, let him uphold the ties of kinship.”_ — Bukhari 5986, Muslim 2557

Call your parents weekly. Visit relatives. Pay kindness to co-founders and employees. In business, this looks like: fair profit-sharing, mentoring juniors, and not backbiting competitors. Allah increases both money and years for those who keep ties.

Business is 90% stress. Dhikr is the antidote that brings barakah into decisions.
Allah says: _“And seek forgiveness of your Lord and repent to Him, He will give you good enjoyment for a specified term and give every doer of favor his favor.”_ — Qur’an 11:3
The Prophet ﷺ said: _“Whoever persists in seeking forgiveness, Allah will appoint for him a way out of every distress, and relief from every anxiety, and will provide for him from where he does not expect.”_ — Abu Dawood 1518, Hasan[and]

100x _Astaghfirullah_ during commutes. _La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah_ before big calls. _Allahumma barik lana feema razaqtana_ before meals with your team. Dhikr shifts you from scarcity mindset to tawakkul mindset, and that’s where barakah enters.
*9. Make Dua For Barakah In What You Earn
The Prophet ﷺ didn’t just work hard. He made specific dua.
Anas RA said:
_“The Prophet ﷺ would say: ‘O Allah, bless for me in what You have provided me.’”_
After every transaction, the Sahabah would say: _“Allahumma inni as’aluka khayraha wa khayra ma feeha”_ — O Allah, I ask You for the good in it and the good in what is in it.
*How to apply it:
Before signing a contract:
_“Allahumma la sahla illa ma ja’altahu sahla”_
When you receive payment: Thank Allah, give a small sadaqah immediately, and say _“Alhamdulillah.”_

*A:* Start with 2 things: Istighfar and paying people on time. Istighfar opens unexpected doors — Qur’an 71:10-12. Paying people on time protects you from Allah’s displeasure. Then add sadaqah, even $1. Debt goes down faster when barakah goes up.
*Q4: Does giving sadaqah really increase business revenue?
*A:* Not always immediately in cash, but always in barakah. “Wealth does not decrease by charity” — Muslim 2588. You may see fewer refunds, better employees, unexpected referrals, or expenses dropping. Track both money AND ease.
*Q5: I can’t pray on time because of meetings. What can I do?
*A:* The barakah rule is “on time.” Allah says: _“Indeed, prayer has been decreed upon the believers a decree at fixed times”_ — Qur’an 4:103. Block your calendar for Salah like you block for clients. If you respect Allah’s meeting, He’ll make barakah in yours. Try Ishraq/Duha if Fajr is hard to protect.
*Q6: Is it okay to make intention for dunya when doing these deeds?
*A:* Yes, but make akhirah primary. The Prophet ﷺ taught us to ask Allah for good in this world AND the next. Read Surah Waqiah for protection from poverty, but with intention: “O Allah, make me free from need so I can worship You and help others.” — See Tirmidhi on reciting Waqiah at night.
*Q7: What if I did all this and business is still slow?
*A:* Barakah is not always measured in sales. Sometimes it’s protection from a bad deal, a healthy family, or contentment. Keep tawakkul, keep improving your service, and remember: Rizq is guaranteed, but timing is with Allah. _“And in the heaven is your provision and whatever you are promised”_ — Qur’an 51:22
